This Week at Amherst Community Church: October 2-8, 2026

From the Pastor

Dear Friends;

This Sunday is set aside in the church as World Communion Sunday - it is a day to celebrate our connectedness to all those who gather at tables around the world to share in the sacred meal of remembrance and hope. There is something about the simple elements of Communion - bread and wine - common in all cultures, that remind us that we are by our very creation more similar than we are different. Sadly, we have historically focused on what makes us different, not in a celebratory way, but as a way to divide and judge. As we finish our series on loving our enemy, it seems so fitting, we do so at the table, where all are equal in the eyes of God; where all are fed; where all are forgiven. I am grateful that our children will be learning about the sacrament in their Sunday School time, and will join us for Communion, which we have placed later in the service. I hope that you will plan to join us for worship this Sunday!

Blessings,

Kandace
