This Week at Amherst Community Church: September 25-October 1, 2026

From the Pastor

Hello, members and friends of ACC!

You may have heard this quote attributed to an ancient Greek philosopher: "We have two ears and one mouth so we can listen twice as much as we speak." What a great thought! The urge to speak rather than listen can be overpowering, and good listening skills are almost an art form. Rather than hearing what another person is saying, have you ever just waited for them to stop talking so you can have your turn? It's a common human foible, but just imagine a world where everyone spoke and no one listened! This Sunday, our worship series titled "How to Love Your Enemy" continues as we consider the power of listening deeply to others.

It's great to have Kandace back after her time in Spain! If you haven't had a chance to listen to last Sunday's worship service and sermon on Facebook, please considering doing so this week! Kandace told some great stories about her journey and the people she met along the Camino de Santiago.

Blessings and peace to all - Rick

Serve: Barrel of Blessings

Our Summer Food Drive was a great success! Thanks to the generosity of our ACC members and friends, church renters, and ACC Child Care Center's families, Feed More WNY received 475 pounds food. That's enough to provide over 395 meals to our hungry neighbors in need!!

Our Serve Team hopes you will continue to share your blessings and donate non-perishable food to our on-going "Barrel of Blessings" project to benefit FeedMore any time you come to church. Thanks in advance for your continued generous support.

Serve: Feed My Starving Children

Once again, ACC will join volunteers from all over Western New York to pack meals for Feed My Starving Children at The Well Church in Getzville. We have reserved spaces to pack at the Saturday morning session, from 9:00-11:00 on Saturday, October 24. Please plan to join us!

There are two ways to sign up:

1- Sign up on the sheet in the narthex. Please sign each person in your group separately.

2- Email Karrie Frank at kfkirby@aol.com Please include your name (all names if you are coming as a family), email and a phone number. Anyone over the age of five is welcome to help pack meals. There are jobs that require lifting and standing, but there are also jobs where you can be seated. Everyone is welcome!

Thanks to the generous budget allowance from the congregation, the Serve Team is making a donation of $1000 to the Feed My Starving Children packing event. If you would like to make a further donation, please click the QR code below. Donations will also be accepted at the event. Looking forward to serving others with you!
